The REACH Media Fellowships for Reporting on TB were instituted in 2010 with two main objectives – to improve the quality and frequency of reporting on TB; and thereby, to help improve the quality, accuracy and relevance of information on TB that is available to the general public. Between 2010 and March 2018, this initiative was supported by a United Way Worldwide grant made possible by the Lilly Foundation on behalf of the Lilly MDR-TB Partnership.
Since 2016, the Fellowship programme has been supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of the TB Call to Action Project (until 2019) and currently through the ALLIES Project.
Since 2018, with support from Lilly Global Health through United Way Worldwide, REACH has expanded the focus of its engagement of journalists to address NCDs. Every year, the focus is on a different NCD: Chronic Respiratory Diseases (2018-19), Mental Health (2019-20), Cardiovascular Diseases (2020-21), Diabetes (2023), and Cancer (2024).
Print/ Digital media journalists working for any local language publication in India (i.e. other than English) are eligible to apply to the REACH Media Fellowships for Reporting on NCDs 2024.
Applications closed for the current year.
The National Media Fellowship is intended for senior journalists to explore issues related to TB or NCDs at the national level. It is expected that the work published by the Fellow will highlight a national-level issue and potentially have policy-level implications for TB and NCD care in India.
Applications closed for the current year.
